Nippon Steel plans tie-up with Tata Steel, Bluescope
July 28, 2010: The world's fourth largest steelmaker, Nippon Steel, reported improved earnings for the fifth consecutive quarter. However, the company expressed concern over its slow growth in China, as per a recent Reuters report. The steep decline in prices in China is forcing steelmakers to slash output. Nippon Steel unveiled plans to build an automotive sheet venture in collaboration with Tata Steel, as well as a technical alliance to be formed with Australia's BlueScope Steel Ltd. to manufacture coated steel products for building and construction markets, the latter being dubbed as its latest step to boost sales overseas.
